Phase Two: Implementing The Model City Initiative/
UAFAH’s Human Culture and Civic Programs

The Model City Community Pledge

I rise up and I will live out the true meaning of the American creed: I hold these truths to be self-evident, that I am Human, all are created equal. I hold that human beings are the most extraordinary species on Earth. Our human attributes provide humanity with the capacities for thought, vital organs, body parts, skin tones, and creativity, which establish our fundamental equality in every crucial aspect.

The journey began through the birth canal, which leads to the ability to think and reflect—these are the foundations of our unique powers. Thinking and reflection lead to imagination; imagination inspires creation and innovation, and allows us to perceive problems that need solutions, and solutions lead to wealth creation.

Humans possess not only power, but the responsibility to address significant challenges to generate wealth and prosperity for themselves and others. More importantly, Humans must examine written history and statements critically, discerning truth from falsehood in our contemporary world. Therefore, concluding  “I” will judge myself and others by the content of their Human attributes. Not by the color of their skin.

I actively practice these abilities daily, using the essential characteristic of my birth to enhance our futures and those I love.  Together, we rise up for Freedom, empowered by our collective humanity, to strive towards justice, compassion, equality, and Human unity to reign supreme.

Highlights

The Model City Initiative:

Enables people in a City and the City government to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by acting on his “I Have a Dream” speech. Participants pledge to take deliberate actions to promote liberty, equality, democracy, racial unity, and happiness within the community.

Goal

Enhance and promote programs and services in the City of College Park that educate and reinforce Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” call to action. We aim to demonstrate and encourage community members to live the American Creed, transcend racial judgments, and empower individuals. By connecting open-minded individuals, we empower females, enlighten males, and foster racial unity, ultimately promoting and positioning College Park as a model city for Dr. King’s vision as embodied in his “I Have a Dream” speech.

Programs and Services that are part of the Model City Initiative.

  • Pedicab Service

  • Ambassador Pedicab Drivers and Street Ambassadors

  • Civic Programs

  • Human Culture Beloved Community Events and Collaborations

  • UAFAH Human Culture Community Model, Citizens and Naming Ceremonies

Pedicab Service

The Pedicab Service, with guided tours and transportation services, tells the story of what the city is seeking to achieve to become the model city to realize the ideals expressed in Dr. King’s “I have a Dream” speech.  Our start up plan is to transport passengers to our downtown, at designated locations, across the new Pedestrian Bridge – Global Gateway Connector, and pickup and drop-off people who attend events at GICC and Gateway Center Arena.  During 2025-2026, the Limousine Pedicab will be available for passenger transportation in Ward One.

We have acquired the pedicab from a leading pedicab manufacturer.  During the initial period, our service will be powered by Joyride Pedicabs, Inc., our collaboration partner, who has 15 years of experience operating pedicabs, a solid reputation, and excellent experience.  Their main client is Truist Park Management, and their main sponsor is Coors. As we progress, we expect to recruit and train local people to be the Ambassador and Pedicab operators.

Ambassador Pedicab Drivers and Street Ambassadors

Pedicab Drivers pass a certification on pedicab operations, safety, and city streets.  Joyride Pedicabs, Inc. plays a key role. Pedicab Drivers are cross-trained as Ambassadors and use this knowledge while driving passengers. We also train and deploy Street Ambassadors who “are on the street” at events, venues, and downtown.

 Civic Programs

A critical part of UAFAH is engaging with city residents to promote civic responsibility, encourage participation and provide voter education.

Human Culture Beloved Community Conversations, Meetings, and Forums

Discussion workshops are intentional about having participants interacting with, and listening to, each other.  The objective is for people to listen to each other and to increase awareness, and self-evaluation (self-introspection). This will lead to personal growth and developing a College Park Human Culture Community (The Beloved Community – The Model City}.

Educational sessions educate the community about the philosophy and objectives of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy and vision.

Forums and Public Discussions facilitate discussions with city officials and residents, allowing them to share ideas and offer feedback.

Human Culture Beloved Community Events and Collaborations

UAFAH plays a role of leadership, collaboration, and contribution.  Sometimes we design, lead, and organize; sometimes we collaborate with others; and sometimes we contribute time and ideas to help others succeed with their events.

We expect to be involved with many organizations, such as local businesses, student organizations, College Park Citizens Association (CPCA), Empowerment Zone, Ignite, Favor House, Christmas Parade, Women Day, Juneteenth, City Wide Festival, Senior Celebrations, and Unity Day.  This can include clean-up drives, marches, and cultural activities and events.

UAFAH Human Culture Community Model Citizens and Naming Ceremonies

We expect to select and encourage individuals in our community to embrace, promote and support the Model City Initiative and recognize and celebrate them for being leaders in the initiative.  These UAFAH Human Culture Community Naming & Title Ceremonies aim to inspire all in the Community.

Each ceremony celebrates the introduction of the Science of Humaculture to new people and provides a platform to encourage people to continue growing to realize the dream of Dr. MLK.

These ceremonies help us (1) establish and grow a Human Culture Community, (2) introduce and celebrate unique cultural changes and identities, (3) and strengthen community bonds by bringing people together to celebrate.

Love and Reverence Initiative

The Beloved Community isn’t built in a single moment. It’s built in the daily choices we make toward one another. The Love and Reverence Initiative is how the Model City Initiative comes alive in College Park’s neighborhoods, one ward at a time.

What Is Love and Reverence?

Love is the unconditional support of one’s well-being, growth and development as a human being.

Reverence is a deep sense of devotion to self and others, demonstrated through acts of kindness and gestures of goodwill, seeking the vest for oneself and others.

Why It Matters

Dr. King’s vision of the Beloved Community calls us to see one another as we truly are: equal in humanity, equal in dignity, equal in worth. Love and Reverence are the everyday expressions of that truth. They are not lofty ideals. They are practical, personal, and possible for every resident of College Park.

America is still searching for an answer to its oldest and most painful question: can we truly become one people? College Park is not waiting for that answer to arrive. We are building it, neighborhood by neighborhood, ward by ward, person by person.

When we lead with Love and Reverence, we stop seeing neighbors through the lens of race and start seeing them through the lens of shared humanity. We stop asking what divides us and start asking what we can build together. That shift, practiced consistently and with intention, changes not just how a community feels but how it functions. It changes how residents show up for one another, how businesses invest in their surroundings, and how a city carries itself in the world.

Dr. King dreamed of a community grounded in justice, compassion, and human dignity. The Love and Reverence Initiative is College Park’s commitment to making that dream the lived experience of every resident. Not someday. Now.

That shift, multiplied across a community, is how a Model City is made.

How It Lives in College Park Georgia

Through ward gatherings, community dinners, workshops, and Ambassador training, College Park residents are coming together to learn, reflect, and commit to practicing Love and Reverence in their daily lives. These are spaces where neighbors become teammates in building something lasting.

Every gathering is intentional. Every conversation is purposeful. Residents sit across from one another, not as strangers divided by background or color, but as human beings with shared hopes, shared responsibilities, and a shared stake in the future of their city. They examine how the culture of a community is shaped by the small daily choices each person makes, and they leave equipped and inspired to make better ones.

Ward Ambassadors carry the spirit of Love and Reverence beyond the dinner table and into the streets, the schools, and the businesses of College Park. They are everyday people who have made an extraordinary commitment: to model what the Beloved Community looks like in real life, one interaction at a time.

This is how culture changes. Not through policy alone, but through people who decide, together, that something better is possible.

Vision Statements

To be regionally, nationally, and globally recognized as a community template for harmony, hospitality, and hope for residents and businesses alike.

To unify this 21st century global city with a spirit of education, a focus on economic empowerment, and an assurance of safety that each stakeholder can embrace.

To eliminate a culture that simply focuses on what we have accomplished by creating a clear image of who we are, what we believe, and why you belong.

Our Mission

To cultivate a community where businesses, families, and individuals can work, play, and live in a safe and diverse environment, united by a shared commitment to one another’s well-being, growth, and dignity. We believe that when Love and Reverence guide how we treat each other, College Park becomes more than a place to live. It becomes a place where every resident belongs, every voice matters, and the Beloved Community is not a distant dream but a daily reality.

Core Values

Hospitality We are a hospitality city at our core. We act and function in a way that emphasizes the importance of the people we serve, whether they are full-time residents, people passing through, or businesses that cater to the region. We commit to assisting others promptly, courteously, and professionally. We want visitors and citizens to feel welcome and experience a deep sense of belonging.

Equity and Inclusion We believe that everyone in our community has a voice and each member should be afforded the chance to participate in shaping the City’s future. Every member of our community will be treated as an equal by everyone within our government structure.

Advancement We value advancement for the city as a whole and for the individuals within College Park’s municipal government, including Council, Executive Leadership, and staff. We are future-oriented and open to innovation, access, progress, and growth.

Leadership We believe our success depends on our ability to be fiscally responsible and to guide and develop our human resources. Our people set a standard of excellence, pursue bold goals, and innovate to better serve our businesses and residents.

Transparency and Professionalism The City promotes open and honest communication among all employees at every level of the organization. Every person employed by the City is a professional who conducts themselves with grace, understanding, and a service ethic that is resolution-oriented and consensus-building. We are a community of caring, thoughtful individuals who take pride in what we do every single day, seeking to serve the city before ourselves.
