Event Details
- Date: June 19, 2025
- Location: College Park, Georgia
- Event: 2nd Annual Juneteenth Celebration and Freedom Parade
- UAFAH Presence: Limousine Pedicab with Ambassadors
What Happened
As parade-goers lined the streets celebrating Juneteenth, UAFAH’s limousine pedicab rolled through as a mobile symbol of the Model City Initiative. Ambassadors engaged with crowds, sharing that freedom isn’t frozen in 1865 – it’s a choice we make every day.
The pedicab became a conversation starter about what freedom means in 2025: the freedom to judge ourselves and others by the content of human attributes rather than skin color. The freedom to transcend racial constructs. The freedom to recognize one race – the human race – and live accordingly.
Message Delivered
Freedom is not a moment. It is a movement. It is not what was won in the past. It is what we choose in the present. Every day we have the opportunity to live Dr. King’s dream or let it remain dormant. UAFAH showed up to remind College Park: we choose freedom through our daily actions, through Love and Reverence, through the Community Pledge.
Impact
- Increased visibility for the Model City Initiative
- Connected historical freedom struggle to present-day racial unity work
- Introduced community to the limousine pedicab and Ambassador service
- Reinforced UAFAH’s message that transformation requires daily practice
Connection to Mission
Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery. The Model City Initiative celebrates the ongoing work of transcending the racial constructs that slavery created. UAFAH’s participation connected past liberation with present transformation.
