Who Are Model City Ambassadors?

Model City Ambassadors are the heartbeat of United Action for the Advancement of Humanity (UAFAH)’s mission in College Park. They are residents, volunteers, and community leaders who have taken the Community Pledge and committed themselves to building Martin Luther King Jr.’s Beloved Community — not as aspiration, but as daily practice.

They are neighbors. They live in College Park. They believe in College Park. And they are working to transform College Park into a Model City where racial unity, Love, and Reverence are not just ideals but lived reality.

What Ambassadors Do

Model City Ambassadors serve as the bridge between UAFAH’s vision and College Park’s neighborhoods. Their work includes:

Community Outreach

They spread the Model City Initiative message throughout College Park, inviting residents to:

  • Take the Community Pledge

  • Attend Love & Reverence events

  • Join the movement toward the Beloved Community

  • Practice judging by human attributes, not skin color

Street Ambassador Service

Many Ambassadors serve as Street Ambassadors, engaging with residents at:

  • Community events and celebrations

  • Neighborhood gatherings

  • Public spaces and local businesses

  • Pedicab service operations

They provide information, guidance, and connection — helping visitors and residents alike discover College Park’s assets while sharing the transformative message of racial unity.

Pedicab Ambassador Service

Select Ambassadors operate UAFAH’s limousine pedicab, turning transportation into transformation. Every ride becomes an opportunity to:

  • Share the Model City Initiative vision

  • Explain Love and Reverence principles

  • Invite passengers to take the Community Pledge

  • Connect people to the Beloved Community being built around them

Ward-Level Leadership

Ambassadors provide grassroots leadership within their wards, particularly in Ward I where the Model City Initiative launched. They:

  • Host and facilitate Love & Reverence events

  • Build implementation teams

  • Develop strategies for community engagement

  • Serve as visible representatives of the movement

Education & Advocacy

They educate College Park residents about:

  • Martin Luther King Jr.’s Beloved Community vision

  • Dr. Nkosi Ajanaku’s Psychosocial Science of Humaculture

  • The American Creed’s foundational principles

  • How to transcend racial constructs and recognize one race: the human race

  • Practical application of Love and Reverence in daily life

The Ambassador Commitment

Model City Ambassadors make four foundational commitments:

1. Love
They practice unconditional support for the well-being, growth, and development of every human being they encounter.

2. Reverence
They demonstrate deep devotion to themselves and others through acts of kindness, gestures of goodwill, and seeking the best for everyone.

3. Action Inspired by “I Have a Dream”
They actively work to operationalize Dr. King’s vision, moving it from historical speech to present-day reality.

4. Living the Model City Community Pledge
They judge themselves and others by the content of human attributes, not the color of skin. They practice this daily in their neighborhoods, workplaces, and throughout College Park.

Who Can Become an Ambassador?

Model City Ambassadors come from all backgrounds, demographics, and experiences. What unites them is not where they came from, but where they are going: toward the Beloved Community.

Someone might be a future Ambassador if they:

  • Believe racial unity is achievable, not just aspirational

  • Want to be part of something transformative in College Park

  • Are willing to judge by human attributes rather than skin color

  • Can commit time and energy to community outreach

  • Want to help College Park become a Model City

  • Are ready to practice Love and Reverence daily

No special qualifications are required. Just:

  • Residency in or connection to College Park

  • Commitment to the Community Pledge

  • Willingness to learn and grow

  • Desire to serve the community

  • Belief that the Beloved Community is possible

Training & Support

When someone becomes a Model City Ambassador, they receive:

Comprehensive Training

  • Model City Initiative philosophy and approach

  • Dr. King’s Beloved Community vision

  • Dr. Nkosi Ajanaku’s Humaculture science

  • Love and Reverence principles and practices

  • Community Pledge education

  • Effective communication strategies

  • Real-world engagement techniques

Ongoing Development

  • Regular Ambassador team meetings

  • Skill-building workshops

  • Role-playing scenarios for common situations

  • Peer support and collaboration

  • Leadership from UAFAH staff and experienced Ambassadors

Resources & Materials

  • Model City Ambassador buttons/identification

  • Community Pledge cards for distribution

  • Educational materials about the initiative

  • Access to UAFAH leadership and guidance

  • Connection to the broader Ambassador network

Community & Fellowship

  • Regular gatherings with fellow Ambassadors

  • Shared meals and celebrations

  • Collaborative planning sessions

  • Sense of purpose and belonging

  • Partnership with residents committed to the same vision

How to Become an Ambassador

Step 1: Attend a Love & Reverence Event
Experience the Model City Initiative firsthand. Meet current Ambassadors. Learn about Love and Reverence principles.

Step 2: Take the Community Pledge
Make the commitment to judge oneself and others by human attributes, not skin color.

Step 3: Express Interest
Inform UAFAH leadership of the desire to join the Ambassador corps.

Step 4: Complete Training
Participate in Ambassador training sessions to develop skills and understanding.

Step 5: Get Activated
Receive Ambassador materials and begin serving College Park.
